Tips for Maintaining Your Dental Health

It is just as important now as it has always been to take care of your dental health. Even though we are postponing elective and preventative care at this time, there are still things you can do at home during this crisis for the betterment of your dental health. Here are our best tips for taking care of your dental health during the COVID-19  crisis:

Eat Healthy Foods

We encourage our patients to practice eating sugary and teeth-staining foods in moderation during this time. Foods like hard-candies, potato chips, citrus fruits, and tomato-based sauces are all known to leave behind sugary residues and staining agents on your teeth. Additionally, drinks like soda, coffee, and tea can have similar effects on your smile. By practicing moderation throughout this crisis, you will be doing your part in keeping your teeth free from plaque and tartar buildup while also keeping your smile bright and white.

Practice Stress Management

This crisis is putting all of us under unusual amounts of stress. Stress has a variety of negative effects on your smile. Most of our patients find that they hold a lot of their stress in their facial muscles, resulting in headaches, jaw pain, fine lines, and wrinkles. Take several breaks throughout your day to relax your facial muscles and stretch your jaw to relieve the amount of tension. If you find that this crisis leaves you with fine lines and wrinkles, Dr. Patel has an in-depth knowledge of the musculoskeletal structure of the face. This enables her to work with you to achieve a beautiful, lasting result using Botox and dermal fillers.

Brush and Floss Regularly

Brushing and flossing your teeth go a long way in maintaining your dental health. Even though your daily routines might be thrown off right now, we recommend continuing to brush and floss your teeth at least twice a day. This will help prevent plaque and tartar buildup around your gum line. When the COVID-19 crisis subsides, make sure to resume your standard preventative care by making an appointment with Best Dental Spa. We look forward to seeing you!
