Restorative Dental Care for A Lasting Smile

Restorative dental care is an important part of maintaining a healthy, beautiful smile. It involves repairing and restoring damaged or decayed teeth. Age, injury, disease and may other issues can cause damaged teeth. Fortunately, restorative dental care can help patients regain their confidence and enjoy the benefits of a healthy, attractive smile.

Through procedures such as crowns, bridges, dental implants, dentures and gum disease treatments, restorative dentistry can help restore teeth to their original condition. With proper care and maintenance restorative dental treatments can last for many years and provide patients with lasting smiles. The following are just some of the restorative procedures that we provide at our dental practice.

Dental Bridges

Are you missing multiple teeth? Dental bridges can help fill in the gaps left by missing teeth while providing long-lasting support. They also help support any remaining tooth structure, restore the ability to bite and chew evenly, prevent teeth from shifting, and maintain a patient’s face shape. Dental bridges can be removable or secured with dental implants. To learn more about restoring your teeth using dental bridges at our office, see Dental bridges.

Dental Crowns

If you have discolored or worn teeth, you can benefit from dental crowns. Also known as dental caps, dental crowns cover teeth and dental restorations. Dr. Patel will prepare the tooth receiving the crown and then take dental impressions using CEREC. Chairside Economical Restoration of Esthetic Ceramics or CEramic REConstruction uses computer technology to take impressions and generate a precise fitting quickly. After several weeks, we insert the permanent crowns. To learn more about our dental crown process, see Dental crowns.

Dental Implants

Dental implants are a type of dental prosthesis that we use to permanently replace missing teeth. Our dentist can use them in a single tooth replacement procedure or as an anchor for dentures and other dental prosthetics. They can also replace worn-down and ill-fitting dentures. This very popular restorative dental procedure can give you a permanently beautiful smile. To learn about replacing your lost teeth using implants at our practice, see Dental implants.

Dentures & Partials

Complete or full dentures are used to replace most or all of a patient’s teeth. An advantage of this option is that patients have teeth during the healing period. Conventional dentures can then be made once the tissues have healed after six to eight weeks. A removable denture or overdenture is an option that fits over several remaining natural teeth or dental implants. Partial dentures fill in the gaps left by missing teeth and are a great option for patients with several missing teeth but some natural ones remaining. To learn more about getting dentures in our office, see Dentures and partials.

Periodontal Therapy

One of the major causes of tooth loss in adults is gum disease. Also known as periodontal disease, gum disease is caused by the infection and destruction of the tissue surrounding, supporting, and protecting teeth. The condition can lead to other major health problems, so treating teeth and gums properly is important before symptoms persist. To learn about your treatment options for gum disease, see Periodontal therapy.

Prosthodontics

Prosthodontics is an area of dentistry that pertains to diagnosing and treating problems involving missing teeth and jaw structure. As a prosthodontist, Dr. Patel can meet your needs under one roof for consistency of care and the best possible result. She can help patients with extensive tooth damage, missing teeth, and advanced gum disease reestablish a healthy and beautiful smile. TMJ Treatment

Do you often find yourself clenching or grinding your teeth? Do you suffer from chronic jaw pain? You may have a TMJ disorder. The temporomandibular joint connects the jawbone to the skull, and pain can arise in the jaw joint and the muscles that control the jaw. Other often painful symptoms can damage teeth and make it difficult to use the jaw and teeth properly. We can treat TMJ with oral appliances. To learn about how we can help you alleviate your TMJ pain and symptoms, see TMJ treatment.
